Our DTC (dossier-to-China) was December 30, 2005. This is the date our dossier was mailed to China. It is now at the China Center for Adoption Affairs (CCAA) being translated.
We are currently waiting for our LID. The LID (log-in date) is the date the dossier is registered or “logged in” at the CCAA. It can take up to 8 weeks to get this date (excluding major holidays such as the Chinese New Year/Spring Festival). After dossiers are registered/logged-in at the CCAA, they go through three steps:
* The first of which is translation. Once our dossier is registered, the CCAA must translate all of the documents in the dossier from English to Chinese. This may take up to four or five months.
* Dossiers then move to the Review Room. While in the Review Room, the individuals that prepare our dossier for the matching room review the entire dossier. This may take up to four or five months.
*Finally, our dossier moves to the Matching Room. It is in the Matching Room that we are "matched" with our child.
We don't know how long our dossier will remain in each room, but the timeframe from LID to referral is currently within about 10 months, but the process is expected to lengthen to around 12 months.
