multifarious yet similar

Twyla is visiting from Kabul, Afghanistan for the holidays. Although this was not exactly a 'planned visit' for her, she will be able to visit her parents in Canada and relatives here. She keeps in touch with all of us well via e-mail and skype but it's always good to see her here in person! She brought an afghan baby blanket for her new granddaughter, Lauren - who we are all waiting for! It has the typical / common afghan embroidery on each square. Twyla may be able to meet up with us in Hong Kong on our return from China with our daughter - that would be pretty cool!
We all went out to eat Indian food last night with well travelled relatives - Barbara from Puerto Rico, Twyla newly arrived from Kabul after a visit in Guam and Jussara and Mark and family from Brazil. We will all share time together during the holidays. Though Twyla will be in Canada, we will see her a few days before her scheduled return to Kabul.
