todays' nutshell

Today in a nutshell: I am perplexed at how I am so much more forgiving of others for their (perceived) ineptness than I am to myself. I can stress myself out in this way. Just recently I gave encouragement to a friend for his described/perceived failures and yet I have difficulty offering myself a fraction of this kindness. That just sucks.

My 8 year old nephew called me from Texas to talk. He calls me a lot just after they've visited. He even had his dad (my older brother) e-mail me 3 photos that he tells me about on the phone. He wants me to comee visit and proceeds to tell me, in detail, all the things we could do (go to the water park and do _____ ; go to the zoo and see this _____ and this _______; go for a walk. We have wonderful nephews and nieces!

Life is a train of moods like a string of beads; and as we pass through them they prove to be many colored lenses, which paint the world their own hue, and each shows us only what lies in its own focus. - Ralph Waldo Emerson
