We are still struggling with jet-lag (and the 12 hour time difference between home and China) - but all is good. My sister and family have been great with making sure we eat!
My friend, Mary (from college) and her husband were visiting this area from Texas. They stopped by briefly yesterday on their way back home. They brought gifts for Lauren. So generous and sweet. . . Mary is such a beautiful friend.
A few relatives that met us upon our late arrival from China (we were a rough, smelly sight at that point! But so happy!!), and a few that meant to be there, stopped by briefly today.

One very poignant gift was passed on to us by Dan (Ed's brother) and Kathy (wife). . .
Ed was very close to his sister, Kristy, growing up. Kristy visited China in the early 1980's and brought back a jacket for her first nephew (who is now in college). One of the tragedies that impacted their lives was when Kristy was killed in a bicycle accident in 1987. . . .
The little jacket she bought in China those many years ago for her first nephew, was passed down to our baby girl. "It feels so appropriate" they said. . . .
Life is wild sometimes, isn't it?

The little jacket is beautiful...such special significance...it IS so perfect that it has now been passed on to your precious daughter. It makes you pause to realize the twists and turns our lives take that we would never have seen in advance...yet, in it all there is always a continuity that we see looking back from this present moment.
I haven't been online much lately & now i get back here to see you are already home with your beautiful, happy daughter! What wonderful news! Congratulations! And what happy pictures, i have really enjoyed seeing her many smiles. It's been a long road for you, and you are certainly blessed to have such a lovely girl in your arms!
I'm sorry you had a rough trip home - seem slike you can't get anywhere without delays and cencellations anymore. But the main thing is you are all home safe and sound, and can really take a deep breath and start your new life.

citizen - oiy - that was a plane trip we would not love to take again. . . well, of course I'd do it again if it were our only option! I'll go with 'All is well that ends well.'
